Shaun Jamal Phillips is the Mt. Holly Pro Day inductee for 2017. Shaun was born May 13, 1981 in Philadelphia, PA. He grew up in Willingboro, NJ and attended Willingboro High School where he lettered in football, basketball, and track. The 6' 3" standout was an All-City, All-South Jersey and All-State selection in football, and was selected to play in the New York-New Jersey Governor’s (All Star) Bowl as a high school senior.
As a college senior, Phillips added 14.5 sacks, pushing his career total to 33.5 -- a school record. Shaun was named a second-team All-American and first-team All-Big Ten performer. He started in 49 consecutive games as a Boilermaker. Shaun was often used on offense as a tight end in goal line situations, and caught two touchdown passes during his Purdue career. He completed his collegiate football career as the school's all-time sack leader with 33.5 career sacks, and ranked third overall in the team annals with 60.5 tackles. Shaun earned a degree in restaurant, hotel and institutional management from Purdue University in May 2003.
In 2006, Shaun was moved to the starting right outside linebacker position and it made an immediate impact. He finished the season tied for 9th in sacks in the NFL despite missing 2 games due to injury and was signed to a six-year extension. He was also named second alternate for the 2007 Pro Bowl. During his fourth season, Shaun emerged as a leader on the San Diego defense. He started in 15 games and tacked on 68 tackles, 8.5 sacks, two interceptions and a touchdown to his stats. In 2009, Philips led the NFL with a career-best 7 forced fumbles and helped take The Chargers to their fourth consecutive AFC West title. Phillips played in all 16 games of the 2010 season and finished with 55 tackles and a team-high 11 sacks. He also made an interception that he returned 31 yards for a touchdown. Shaun was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week after producing a career-high four sacks, and an interception returned for a touchdown vs. Arizona (10/3/10). He was also named to his first Pro Bowl that season. In April 2013 as an unrestricted free agent, Phillips joined the Denver Broncos. He played all 16 games and led that team with 10 sacks. The following year he signed with the Tennessee Titans but was then later picked up by the Indianapolis Colts. Phillips lives in California with interests that include commercial real estate, business ventures and volunteering with youth programs. Pro Day
Phillips accepted a scholarship to Purdue University, much in part to play with Drew Brees. He started his collegiate football career as a 2nd-year freshman in the defensive end position. Shaun earned All-Big Ten honorable mention in each of his first three seasons. 
In 2004, Phillips entered the NFL draft and was selected by the San Diego Chargers in the fourth round, 98th pick overall. During his rookie and 2nd season, Shaun was used as a backup pass rush specialist.
