Kareem McKenzie is the honoree for Mt. Holly Pro Day 2010. Born May 24, 1979 Kareem played for Willingboro High School. While there he earned USA Today and Schutt All-America honors, All-Burlington County and All-State accolades, participated in the New Jersey North-South All-Star game and the All-American High School Bowl. Kareem also competed in the discus and shot put on the track and field team, serving as a 2-year captain. A standout 6'-6" tackle, Kareem was one of the nation's top high school football recruits. He accepted a scholarship to Penn State where he was a three-year starter and only the 5th Nittany Lion to earn All-Big Ten Conference honors 3 times. Kareem entered the NFL Draft in 2001 and was a 3rd round (79th pick overall) draft choice by the Jets. He signed with the NY Giants as an unrestricted free agent in 2005. That year Kareem started all 14 regular season games and the NFC Wild Card Game at right tackle. In 2007, he started all 16 regular season games and all 4 of the Giants' postseason games. Blocking by McKenzie and the O-line enabled the Giants to finish 4th in the NFL in rushing yardage with an average of 134.3 yards a game. In their 4-game postseason surge that culminated in a Super Bowl XLII victory, the Giants averaged 305.5 yards, including 103.8 on the ground. McKenzie has blocked for 4 NFL running backs who rushed for more than 1,000 yards in a season - Curtis Martin with the Jets and Tiki Barber, Brandon Jacobs and Derrick Ward with the Giants. Today Kareem lives in New Jersey. He hosts an annual football camp free of charge for kids in his hometown of Willingboro, N.J. The 3-day camp includes football instruction as well as a life skills session. We salute Kareem McKenzie for his continued involvement both on and off the field, and are proud to have him as the Mt. Holly Pro Day 2010 Honoree.
