TechCred Overview

TechCred helps Ohioans learn new skills and helps employers build a stronger tech-savvy workforce. Ohio's TechCred Program provides businesses the chance to upskill their current and future employees with available funding. Businesses that submit successful applications can be reimbursed up to $2000 per credential when employees (current or prospective) complete technology-focused credentials. Employers are eligible to receive up to $30,000 per funding round.*

TechCred Eligible Credentials

To be considered eligible for TechCred, credentials must meet these three specifications:

• Must be industry-recognized.
• Must be technology-focused (as defined below).
• Must be short-term.
  Credentials must be certificates or certifications able to be completed in less than 12 months or in programs that are fewer than 900 clock hours or thirty (30) credit hours.

Technology-focused Definition: Technology credentials demonstrate the competencies necessary to succeed in an occupation that utilizes technology to develop, build, and deliver products and services. Technology credentials rely on science, technology, engineering and/or math related education, as well as technical skills, to benefit an employer dependent on the development, deployment and investment in new and emerging technology, including software development, advanced manufacturing, data analytics, cybersecurity, computer hardware and design, military applications and other emerging fields.

Credentials have been recommended by the Technology Review of Educational Credentials (TECHREC) panel of experts and approved by the Chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education. Get TechCred Training with ONLC

Per Ohio TechCred, businesses are NOT required to use a training provider on TechCred's website.

Businesses are encouraged to choose the training provider that best meets their needs. When you choose ONLC's training for TechCred funding you can train for:

• CERTIFICATE
  A certificate is earned when one successfully completes training, be it a single course or a series of courses. ONLC provides a certificate of completion to students. This is not the same as a certification.

  A professional certification is defined as earned by an individual who has passed a standardized assessment that recognizes the individual's knowledge, skill, or competency in a particular specialty.
