A Microsoft Azure certification is a great way to kickstart or advance your career in information technology (IT), especially if you’re working in the cloud environment. It’s not a question of whether you can get a job with Azure certification–it’s how far your boosted credentials are going to take you on the ladder, and how much more you can be earning with it.

Getting Azure certification may only require a couple of days of studying, especially if you’re only working to get a fundamentals certification. For others, preparation, along with meeting certain prerequisites, can take an average of six weeks. The test itself is relatively quick–only lasting about two hours–and you can get your certification after one or two days.

What Is Azure Certification?

Azure is Microsoft’s cloud platform. It’s a massive environment that enables users to build, deploy, and manage Internet-based applications and systems. An Azure certification shows that an IT professional is adept in the platform and that they fully understand how to use its features to create top-notch, cloud-based outputs and efficiently maintain and troubleshoot cloud software and infrastructure.

How Do I Get Certified in Azure?

Getting certified in Azure is a very straightforward process that involves getting training, meeting the prerequisites, and passing an exam. Here’s a look into each step:

Get Training

The best way to ensure that you get Azure-certified is to take training courses, such as ONLC’s Microsoft Azure Certification Training Courses. These programs are designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the specific certification you’re trying to obtain.

ONLC is an authorized Microsoft Learning Partner, which means that our courses are aligned with current tests and are always up-to-date with any changes that the platform implements.

Meet the Prerequisites

There are no specific prerequisites to most Azure certifications; only the expert certifications require certain associate certifications. That said, Microsoft recommends that you use its free learning resources for extra support, have a complete understanding of the exam coverage and have experience in the tested skills, and take practice exams before the actual test.

Pass the Exam

You can take the Azure certification exam online or at a proctored test center. It typically only contains forty to sixty questions and spans up to 120 hours. Scores are graded on a scale of one to 1,000, with marks above 700 considered to be a passing grade for certification.

How Long Does It Take To Be Azure-Certified?

The amount of time it takes to get an Azure certification will depend on factors like which exam you’re taking, how much prior knowledge and skills you have on the Azure platform, and how much time and resources you can dedicate to your training.

Some people get their certification after less than a week of preparation, while others take up to three months to complete their review and pass the exam. Most people, however, take less than six weeks to become Azure-certified.

Tips on Preparing for Azure Certification

Here are some tips to help you prepare to get your Azure certification:

Enroll in the Best Training Course

The training course you enroll in can greatly affect the quality of learning you receive, which will impact how well you can score on your certification test. Opt for a training program such as those offered by ONLC–these tests are authorized by Microsoft.

Get to Know the Exam

Make sure you understand what the exam will cover and how the questions will likely go. Find relevant practice tests and take them so that you can gauge how you’ll do and make any necessary improvements.
